Tremble with excitement! Peacock’s two most anticipated new shows finally have release dates! Variety has confirmed the dates for the upcoming series The Good Daughter and Crystal Lake.
The Good Daughter is an adaptation of the Karin Slaughter novel of the same name that centers on two sisters trying to piece together a tragic event from their past. The series is set to star Rose Byrne, hot off the success of her Golden Globe-winning and Oscar-nominated performance in Mary Bronstein’s If I Had Legs I’d Kick You. The series will also star Emmy nominee Meghann Fahy (The White Lotus), Academy Award nominee Brandan Gleeson (The Banshees of Inisherin), Harper Steele (Will & Harper), Paula Malcomson (The Hunger Games franchise), Jake McDorman (Mrs. Davis), Olivia Williams (The Crown), and Michael Dorman (For All Mankind). Slaughter will act as the showrunner and write all 6 episodes. Every episode will be directed by Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Steph Green, best known for her work on television shows such as Scandal, The Americans, Watchmen, and Ahsoka. All 6 episodes of The Good Daughter will air on Peacock on November 12th.
The bigger story is the confirmed release date for the highly anticipated horror series, Crystal Lake. The series is both A24’s first big foray into IP and the first Friday the 13thproject since the ill-received 2009 reboot. After 17 years of false starts, cancellations, and lawsuits, it’s a miracle that Crystal Lake made it in one piece. The series is a prequel to the original Friday the 13th and is centered on a younger Pamela Voorhees. The cast consists of Linda Cardellini (Dead to Me), Will Catlett (Black Lightning), Devin Kessler (Godfather of Harlem), Cameron Scoggins (Red Dead Redemption II), Gwendolyn Sundstrom (I'm Beginning to See the Light), and Callum Vinson (The Night Agent) as a young Jason. Brad Caleb Kane acts as showrunner, hot off the success of the hit HBO series It: Welcome to Derry. Kane replaced Bryan Fuller, who was fired from Crystal Lake in 2024 due to creative differences. Michael Lennox (Derry Girls), Celine Held & Logan George (Caddo Lake), and Quyen Tran (The Pitt) will direct the episodes. Crystal Lake will consist of 8 episodes and will begin airing on October 15th on Peacock.
