Takashi Yamazaki, the Oscar-winning director of Godzilla Minus One, has been very busy. Not only is he directing the sequel, Godzilla Minus Zero, but he is also working on a new movie with Ridley Scott.
Not much is known about the film, besides the fact that it is a sci-fi film called Nue. He is also working with Scott’s production company, Scott Free, on the film. This is an entirely new project, and is separate from his first English language film, Grandgear, which is being produced by JJ Abrams.
Nue is an entirely new project, and not much is known about it. “Nue,” however, refers to an entity from Japanese folklore, with body parts that represent multiple animals. The depictions can vary, but imagine a combination of a monkey, tiger, dog, and snake. This means it could be some type of creature feature, which would be perfect for the director who brought us Alien and the director who brought new energy to the Godzilla franchise.
It will probably be a while until the film releases, so for now, Yamazaki is currently working on Godzilla Minus Zero, which hits theaters in November. Scott has his new film, The Dog Tales, releasing in theaters in August.
