The Deathstroke and Bane team-up is one step closer to becoming a reality. DC are apparently close to signing a director for the film, and Greg Mottola is at the top of the list. Best known for the cult hit, Superbad, Mottola came to the attention of DC after directing two of the best episodes of Peacemaker.

DC announced the movie back in September 2024 and almost immediately attached Matthew Orton (Captain America: Brave New World) to pen the script. In the subsequent years, DC has shelved a number of planned projects, but against the odds, the Deathstroke Bane movie has survived.

Another recipient of the super soldier serum, Deathstroke (aka Slade Wilson) first appeared in screen in live-action in Lois & Clark, but went on to pop up in Smallville, Arrow and Titans. But he’s yet to make his DC movie debut. Unlike Bane who’s been in Batman pictures twice. Deadpool was originally a Deathstroke spoof, so it’s only right that he gets a movie in his own right after his counterpart has become so popular. No contracts have been signed, and no casting rumours are circulating, so we’ve got no idea who will be playing the anti-heroes. But fans have their opinions, David Bautista is a favourite for Bane and has expressed interest in the role.
