Composer Guy Moon sadly died after a car collided with his scooter on the Wilmington (CA) roads. Moon was just 63 years old. Born in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, and a University of Arizona alum, he moved to California in the mid-80s to compose the score for the B-movie Creepozoids.  But his big break came in 1992 when he landed the teen NBC show California Dreams. Moon composed the theme and all the music for 78 episodes over four years, and was the first show for which he took the lead, setting the tone. This was followed by ABC’s popular Addams Family animated series.

By 1997, he’d become the go-to composer for youth programming. Nickelodeon first signed Guy Moon for an episode of Johnny Bravo, and a few months later, they handed him their newest hit, Cow and Chicken. His relationship with Nick Junior was a very successful one. Fairly OddParents was nominated four times in the Outstanding Music and Lyrics category at the Primetime Emmys. But Hollywood still came calling; The Brady Bunch Movies, Conspiracy, and Black Knight were all his work.

Guy Moon’s wife and three children confirmed the loss on social media on January 10th with the following heartfelt statement.

“We feel singularly blessed to have been able to call him dad and husband. As we stand together at the base of what seems to be an insurmountable grief, we are emboldened to grieve him with honor and courage with the tools that he equipped us with in his beautiful life,” his family wrote on Facebook. “He has left an unmistakable legacy, and will be profoundly missed by us, his family, and countless others whose lives he impacted.
