Warhammer 40,000 has a new video game on the way, and a big new trailer just revealed some major information about the main threat players will face!
Boltgun was a well-enjoyed retro shooter released in 2023, which followed the adventures of a lone Space Marine on a one-warrior mission to take out heretical threats infesting a world of the Imperium of Man. The sequel, Boltgun II, looks to be upping the stakes, and is certainly upping the playable characters!
Players will control Malum Caedo of the Ultramarines Chapter, and the new addition, Nyra Veyrath of the Adepta Sororitas. Both characters find themselves on a quest to save multiple Imperium worlds from a menacing plot by Vashtorr the Arkifane, a recent Warhammer villain who has been up to no good across the Imperium in several other plots.
Revealed as the game’s big bad in a YouTube trailer and a Warhammer Community article, the community was one for one big surprise: Vashtorr’s theme, “Ascent of the Arkifane,” has been composed by the legendary Mick Gordon, best known to thousands of fans for his work on the soundtracks to modern games in the Doom and Wolfenstein franchises.
In addition to this big announcement, the trailer also revealed that Boltgun II will be dropping on October 14th, 2026, on Steam, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. Fans won’t have to wait long to unleash some grimdark pixelated carnage!
