From the moon to the realm of horror! It’s been confirmed that Grammy-winning rapper, actor, and now filmmaker Scott Mescudi aka Kid Cudi, is setting up his next directorial effort, Wrong Number. Mescudi will also star in the film alongside Barbie Ferreira, Lucy Barrett, Dewayne Perkins, Clifton Powell, and Laura Harrier.

The film centers on Ibn (played by Mescudi), a lonely self-help author who finds himself falling for a woman named Eliza. Little does he know that this blossoming romance turns into a nightmare as Ibn becomes a suspect for a string of murders. In addition to starring, Scott Mescudi will serve as writer, director, and composer. Mark Webber (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World), Anthony Baldino (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Things), and Ryan Lacen (All the World is Sleeping) will serve as producers. Wrong Number will be Kid Cudi’s second directorial effort following Doe, which was announced earlier this year. Doe has yet to be dated, but the fast-tracking of Wrong Number implies confidence in the film. Like Wrong Number, Doe stars and is written, directed, and scored by Mescudi.

One of the most beloved and influential rappers of the 21st Century, Kid Cudi came into the rap scene in 2008 with his cult mixtape A Kid Named Cudi. In 2009, he released his debut studio album Man on the Moon: The End of Day, which received critical acclaim and is frequently hailed as one of the greatest rap albums of all time. Cudi would craft an entire trilogy of albums, with Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager and Man on the Moon III: The Chosen being released in 2010 and 2020, respectively. Cudi has released 11 studio albums in total. Barbie Ferreira is best known for her roles as Kat Hernandez in the first two seasons in Euphoria and Grace Pine in Miles End Kicks. Lucy Barrett is best known for her roles as Hayley Kahn in the Australian soap opera Neighbors and Mikaela in the Charmed reboot. Dewayne Perkins is a comedian who has served as a writer on multiple television shows, including The Amber Ruffin Show, which earned him an Emmy nomination. Clifton Powell is best known for his roles as Jeff Brown in Ray and the voice of Big Smoke in the Grand Theft Auto franchise. Laura Harrier is best known for her roles as Liz Allen in Spider-Man: Homecoming, Patrice Dumas in BlackKlansman, and Susanne de Passe in Michael.
