In a world where Hollywood loves different universes from the same original IP crossing over, James Gunn is jumping into the mix with his take on Peacemaker as he heads its second season. When asked on Twitter how he would explain the show taking place in the DCEU despite cameos from Zack Snyder's Justice League, which is set in the DCU, Gunn responded, "You'll have to wait and see." Later, he expanded on his answer with "Because it's my favorite thing to do, it's the biggest original Max show ever, and I have a way in. It won't be confusing."

Peacemaker Season 2 will continue to star former WWE star John Cena playing the titular character, with supporting roles including Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase / Vigilante, Chukwudi Iwuji as Clemson Murn, Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt, Steve Agee as John Economos and Robert Patrick as August "Auggie" Smith. Dee Bradley Baker voices Peacemaker's pet bald eagle, Eagly. The show will be 8 episodes long and pick up where season 1, also led by Gunn, left off. Season 1 was well-received by fans, having a 94% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and a score of 8.3 on IMDB.
