Kit Harington is known for his role as Jon Snow in Game of Thrones, a role he played for the entire show’s run of 8 seasons. He almost moved away from television entirely until he landed the role of Sir Henry Muck in Industry on HBO, which he credits with the reason why he wanted to come back to television.

While filming Industry, Harrington realized that he missed playing a role that was built up over several episodes, instead of just a role in a single film. He said that after Game of Thrones he didn’t want to come back to TV and do another long character arc, but after filming Industry, that changed his mind, because he missed it so much.

In some ways, Industry is who we have to thank for his casting as Gilderoy Lockhart in the upcoming Harry Potter series on HBO Max, and the fact that Nicholas Hoult dropped out. He even mentioned how much the books helped him on his sobriety journey, and used the audiobooks as a way to turn off his brain and sleep.

All of this talk about his return to television could mean an eventual Jon Snow spinoff, if it’s done with the right team. One was already in development, but shelved.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone premieres on December 25th, 2026 on HBO Max.
