The premiere of K-Pop Demon Hunters was a phenomenon unlike any seen in a long time. An original Netflix film about three K-Pop idols who double as demon hunters spent weeks as Netflix's most-viewed film. Fans weren’t shocked later on when a sequel was announced. According to The Wrap, fans of Rumi, Zoey, Mira, and the Saja Boys will be seeing the idols battle it out in movie theaters. The sealing of the Honmoon will be experienced on a screen worthy of an idol’s power.

Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos revealed how the film's sequel will be given a "broad theatrical release". Sarandos's goal for this theatrical release is not only to carry on the legacy of a story about three K-Pop idols fighting demons both physical and internal, but to "serve movie lovers" who would want the experience of seeing this surprise global sensation on larger screens."The most passionate audience" sit in movie theaters. Conversely, "by the time it comes to Netflix, you’ve lost that passionate audience," as Sarandos relayed to Bloomberg Screentime in Los Angeles. These audience members will have variety because of its theatrical release. Sarandos's strategy of "dividing up releases" between "arthouse films" such as La Bola Negra and the "wide appeal" of "family movies" like K-Pop Demon Hunters guarantees each film receives equal attention per its genre.
