'Mission: Impossible' Franchise Welcomes Katy O'Brian

A bright spot of news has recently come out regarding Mission Impossible 8. According to Deadline, actress and martial artist Katy O’Brian has been added to the cast list! The Paramount Pictures film, currently untitled, picks up where the previous left off following the intense action and life-or-death scenarios. Other members of the cast include Tom Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson, Nick Offerman, Pom Klementieff, and Vanessa Kirby.
O’Brian has had a fairly fast-paced career since 2015. Her most recent role was Jackie, a competing bodybuilder, in the thriller Love Lies Bleeding (2024). Some of her most famous roles include Katy in The Walking Dead, George in Z Nation, Major Sara Grey in Black Lightning, Kimball in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and Elia Kane in The Mandalorian. O’Brian has stunt work experience as well.

Specific plot details are being kept under wraps, but Mission: Impossible 8 is a follow-up to the 2023 film, Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning. The film is currently set to release on May 23, 2025. All seven installments to the Mission: Impossible franchise can be streamed on Paramount+. If you don’t have access to that platform, the first six films can also be streamed on Amazon Prime; the seventh film can be rented or bought there as well.
