Amidst ongoing questions about James Gunn's plans for a unified DCU and the less-than-stellar performances of the most recent DC cinematic features (Shazam 2, The Flash, and Blue Beetle), there is still much to look forward to for DC fans. Like the second season of My Adventures with Superman. The season one finale of Adult Swim's and Max's hit TV show, chronicling the early adventures of Clark Kent/Superman, Lois Lane, and Jimmy Olsen, just premiered on September 1. The show's co-producer and writer Josephine Campbell has provided an update on season 2, which was confirmed back in July:

“So, it’s not announced yet. And there’s nothing I can say until it’s announced. So, I was gonna say, the season premiere is coming out. Stay tuned for Season 2. We got the wonderful task of being able to make them both around the same time and I’m very excited for this. There’s so much stuff in Season 2 that I think is gonna blow people’s minds. So yeah, just stay tuned, keep watching.”

It is not unusual for a studio to initially order two seasons of a new animated show, but amidst Warner Bros.'s merger with Discovery and the shakeup within DC Studios, there were questions if the second season would still get made. Campbell also confirmed that season two will have ten episodes, like season one. And with both seasons seemingly made at the same time and not much work left for the completion of season 2, a premiere in early 2024 is not unlikely.

As for a continuation of the series which is heavily inspired by the Superman movie from 1978 beyond season 2, the big question mark is, of course, the ongoing writers's and actors' strike and how long it might continue. Campbell and storyboard artist Brendan Clogher are surely not running out of ideas:

"We have so many plans. We’ve got lots. We’ve got seasons upon seasons figured out. Brendan's got a whole board in his house that’s got all these ideas, so we could keep going."

And as with any other TV show, it all depends if there is enough demand from the audience:

"So if you like it, keep watching, tell your friends to watch, re-watch on Max, re-watch when it’s on TV. The best chance to get any show picked up for another season is to watch it and to talk about how much you love it."
