In an interview with Yahoo Entertainment, Nicolas Cage said that he has no interest in joining the Star Wars franchise. Pedro Pascal, who stars alongside Cage in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, has said that he would like Cage to make an appearance on The Mandalorian where Pascal plays the titular character. Despite the many different roles he has played in the past, Cage expressed no interest in doing any Star Wars project.

The reason is simple as Cage pointed out:

“I’m a Trekkie, man. I’m on the Star Trek Enterprise. That’s where I roll.”

Cage has been a fan of Trek since the 1960s. He even went on to say, “I’m not in the Star Wars family. I’m in the Star Trek family.”

He further explained why he is such a fan of the franchise:

“You put it on a different planet, you put it in a different time or in the future, and without people just jumping on you, you can really express your thoughts like Orwell or whomever in the science fiction format. And Star Trek really embraced that.”

It will be interesting to see if Cage ever ends up with a role in the Star Trek universe.

On April 14th, the audience will see Cage play Count Dracula in Renfield, an action comedy from Universal Pictures.
