A Nintendo Direct presentation was held for the upcoming game Donkey Kong Bananza. Story, plot, and gameplay were revealed in the nearly 18-minute-long event, teasing what to expect. Golden bananas, also called Banandium, have appeared on Ingot Isle, and Donkey Kong goes searching for them. The overall goal is to find as many Banandium gems and face down VoidCo, a group of primates who want the Banandium for themselves and lock away the lower levels of the Underground World to keep it.
Along with running, jumping, and climbing, the player can direct D.K. in some destructive ways. You can punch into rock formations, smash through the ground, swing rock chunks into other chunks, and more! While actual gameplay may be tweaked or vary when the game is released, it appears to be an exciting experience regardless. Joining D.K. for this adventure is Odd Rock, who transforms into a singer named Pauline. There are a few forms that D.K. can take in the game depending on the power-up Pauline initiates. He can become Kong Bananza, Zebra Bananza, or Ostrich Bananza. The game is compatible with a second player, who plays as Pauline.
