Kara Zor El is coming to a theater near you, and she’s bringing a massive musical talent along with her! It has been confirmed that award-winning film, television, and video game composer Ramin Djawadi will provide the score for the upcoming DC Studios film, Supergirl.
One of the most accomplished composers in the industry, Djawadi began his career as a student of prolific composer Hans Zimmer, providing additional music for major blockbusters including Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Batman Begins, and The Island. Ramin Djawadi's breakthrough score would come in Jon Favreau’s Iron Man, which earned him a Grammy and Saturn Award nomination.
Djawadi’s output in the 2010s was primarily defined by his work on the critically acclaimed HBO series Game of Thrones, which earned him a heap of awards, attention and critical acclaim. His main title theme for the series has cemented itself in popular culture as one of the most iconic TV themes of all time. Other acclaimed TV work by Djawadi includes Westworld, Fallout, 3 Body Problem, and House of the Dragon. Notable film credits include Pacific Rim, Warcraft, The Great Wall, and Eternals. Supergirl marks Ramin Djawadi's second collaboration with director Craig Gillespie, following their previous work on Fright Night. This makes Djawadi the first film composer Gillespie has worked with more than once.

Supergirl is directed by Craig Gillespie, who has remained one of the most consistent journeyman directors in Hollywood for almost 20 years. He made his official feature directorial debut with Lars and the Real Girl and would go on to direct Fright Night, Million Dollar Arm, The Finest Hours, and Dumb Money. Gillespie’s most significant claims to fame are his 2017 dramedy I, Tonya and the 2022 Disney film Cruella, both of which earned highly positive reviews and Oscar wins.
DC Studios CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran act as producers with actress-turned-writer Ana Nogueira writing the screenplay. The film is heavily inspired by the acclaimed comic miniseries Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow by Tom King and Bilquis Evely. Other notable crew members include cinematographer Rob Hardy (Mission: Impossible – Fallout), costume designer Anna B. Sheppard (Maleficent), production designer Neil Lamont (Rogue One), and editor Tatiana S. Riegel (who has worked on all of Gillespie’s films).
Supergirl is set to star House of the Dragon star Milly Alcock as the titular heroine. She will be joined by Jason Momoa (Aquaman) as Lobo, Matthias Schoenaerts (The Old Guard) as Krem of the Yellow Hills, David Krumholtz (Oppenheimer) as Zor El, Emily Beechum (Into the Badlands) as Alura In-Ze, and newcomer Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll.
Supergirl will fly into theaters on June 26th, 2026.
