After many months of rumors and chatter, it has officially been confirmed that Red Dead Redemption is getting an upgrade for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Not only that, for some reason, it’s also coming to Android and iOS devices, and even Netflix games.

The game is officially releasing on current-gen consoles with an upgrade. This upgrade will contain 60 fps, enhanced image quality, HDR, and up to 4K resolution for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. The Switch 2 version will contain mouse controls, 60 fps, HDR, and DLSS. It is unclear currently if the resolution will be 4K or not. The game will also contain the Undead Nightmare DLC. If you currently own the game for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or Nintendo Switch, you’ll be able to upgrade the game free of charge. For those looking to play it on Netflix games, you can download it from, well, Netflix.

The game was due for an upgrade, as it originally came out in 2010, then was rereleased again in 2023 for the PS4 and Nintendo Switch. This announcement does come at a rather interesting time for Rockstar Games, considering they are currently in the process of creating the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI. The studio recently fired 31 employees, in what has been called an act of union busting. Rockstar has denied the claims and said they were let go for leaking “confidential information”. Those who were let go disagree and, alongside a British trade union, are ready to fight to be reinstated.
