An exciting update has come for the adaptation of Rick Riordan’s The Kane Chronicles. According to Nexus Point News, not only were the rights to the story acquired by 20th Century Television for Disney+, but the project is actively moving forward now! Riordan and Angela Robinson will reportedly be creating the show. The history of an adaptation of The Kane Chronicles has been shaky thus far. Movie plans were announced for the three books in 2020 when Netflix purchased the rights. The project remained in suspension for several years until 2024, when the rights reverted back to Riordan. A production timeline for the new series has not been released at this time.
The Kane Chronicles follows brother-sister duo Carter and Sadie Kane as they learn to wield the powerful magic they were born with to fight Chaos and preserve Ma'at, the harmony and creative power of the universe. There are three books in total with a focus on Egyptian mythology, and they are set in the same universe as the Percy Jackson series. While you wait for updates, if you're looking for Riordan television content, the first two seasons of Percy Jackson and the Olympians are available to stream on Disney+. The third season of the series premieres on the platform on November 20, 2026. All Rick Riordan books are available through major retailers and at many local libraries.
