The Walt Disney Company is pursuing another collaboration with a tech company, this time veering away from AI. The company will partner with the social media platform TikTok to bring fan-created content to Disney+ through the Verts tab. In turn, this has the potential to bolster engagement on TikTok with both new content and new users from Disney+. Creators will reportedly have to opt in for their content to be used in this collaboration. Some creators will be invited to the Disney Creator Ambassador Program as well, reportedly cultivating a new generation of talent with unique opportunities and career development. Overall, this collaboration gives TikTok users access to the Disney media library, displays fan-created content on Disney+ to view and share, and creates new connections with fans who have similar interests.

In the press release announcement, Walt Disney Chief Marketing and Brand Officer Asad Ayaz commented on this partnership, “The best storytellers are fans first. That has always been true at Disney, and today, fans are celebrating our stories in entirely new ways.” He continued, highlighting the potential reach and benefits that can be yielded, “This collaboration creates a new bridge between the stories we tell and the creativity they inspire, giving creators a bigger stage to share what they’ve made, and audiences more to discover on Disney+ every day.”

TikTok chimed into the conversation. The company's Global Head of Entertainment Dawn Yang explained, “Creators are at the heart of everything we do at TikTok. Their creativity extends the life of films and shows into conversations that fans discover and share.” She wrapped her comments with a push for others to engage in shared experiences: “Together with Disney, we’re bringing the authentic creator expression of the TikTok community to Disney+, inviting audiences to experience the shared creativity that makes fandom so powerful.” While a specific date hasn't been given, the collaboration will reportedly roll out in several months.
