Disney Parks has dropped a mysterious video on Twitter announcing a new musical for their resorts, based on….you guessed it, the fake Rogers: The Musical from Hawkeye. We should all be shocked and surprised, but after the post-credit scene was performed live at the D23 Expo in 2022 to rapturous applause, it was only a matter of time.

Disney has not given us many clues in the short video. They’ve told us Rogers: The Musical will be performed at the Disney California Adventure Park and is billed as being suitable for older kids/young teens. The big reveal is the inclusion of Peggy Carter, (played by an actress who probably isn’t Hayley Atwell) who did not appear in the original parody. Chances are some changes are coming to the short piece we’ve seen on Hawkeye.

If Disney is involved, then the production values will be high, and the costumes elaborate. Peggy Carter’s costume in the video is on point, and a far cry from the Hulk in a green hoodie and face paint. The writers of the original skit are big Broadway hitters Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, the team behind the hit musicals Hairspray, Catch Me If You Can, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. There’s no word yet if Disney have brought them back to write the full-length Rogers: The Musical.

Musicals are notoriously expensive to develop, so this is a risky move by Disney if it fails. However, if we’ve learnt anything from Loki and WandaVision, it’s that Marvel fans love it when the franchise is brave. We could watch this all day.
