While fan reactions to season three of The Mandalorian have been mixed so far, Dave Filoni is confident the season finale will stick the landing. The producer revealed in an interview with Collider that episode 8 will bring fans a “happy ending”.

The plot of The Mandalorian has made significant strides away from the adventures of Mando and Grogu that drew fans in during the first two seasons. This season has followed a less clear path than its predecessors and has slowly built to Bo-Katan Kryze and Din Djarin teaming up to unite the divided clans of Mandalore.

Dave Filoni expressed that he hopes that fans will be cheering at the end of the season, and mused that “they’ll have a lot to think about”. Regarding the finale, he also stated:

…I think with any good ending there’s the moment you’re in it when you’re cheering and you feel satisfied, but then there’s a little bit after that where you think back at all the things that happened. Maybe you start to put them together in a different way and you realize it’s an ending, but there are other things happening out there in the galaxy that now you know more about.

Filoni also teased in the interview that, while season 4 has not yet been confirmed, writer Jon Favreau already “wrote it all”. Season 3 of The Mandalorian may be drawing to a close, but, as Din said to Bo-Katan in the penultimate episode, its song is not yet written.

The Mandalorian season 3 final premieres on Disney+ on April 19.
