Season Three Of 'The Wheel Of Time' Has Apparently Started Filming In Prague

It’s been over a year since The Wheel of Time debuted on Prime Video, and with a relatively successful first season, since the end of the season, production has been ongoing for season two, and season three was renewed back in July of 2022. Beyond that, there has not been much said about season three.

Until now. According to Fellowship of Fans, who cited a person who reports for a Wheel of Time website similar to our own, filming for season three has already started in Prague. Much of the filming for season one was done in the Czech Republic, so that isn’t a stretch. They claim to have several sources that have confirmed that filming began on Monday, even though there is no official statement on the series’ Twitter page.

This is an incredibly quiet filming start for an adaptation that has a large fan base, if this is indeed true, especially since there is still no news on the release date for season two. Online speculation has it that season two will release this summer, but nothing is confirmed from the studio. Filming wrapped in May of 2022, so a year in post tracks for a summer release this year. The early renewal for a third season last year, and if this report pans out, suggests Amazon is fully supportive of this series and its future.

Season one covered book one of the 14-book series pretty closely, and while there is no official synopsis of season two yet, the showrunner Rafe Judkins tweeted in response to a question that their goal is to get through books one, two, and three by the end of season two, so that season three can cover book four. This would suggest that season two will cover books two and three, a mighty task to do in eight episodes given how long Robert Jordan’s books were.

The Wheel of Time is adapted from the 14-book run by the late author Robert Jordan. The last few books were completed by Brandon Sanderson. Season one is fully available on Prime Video.
