Aside from Pedro Pascal, Sigourney Weaver, and Jeremy Allen White are the only two cast members announced from The Mandalorian and Grogu. Weaver is seen as Colonel Ward in the first teaser for the movie. She’s shown at a diner with Din Djarin and Grogu, on what appears to be the New Republic’s base on Adelphi. As for White, he voices Jabba the Hutt’s son, Rotta the Hutt. Recently, Weaver and White both shared their experiences working on next year’s Star Wars film. During an appearance at New York Comic-Con's Alien and Beyond panel a few days ago, Weaver revealed that she began watching the series and fell in love with it after Jon Favreau spoke to her. It didn’t take long for the veteran actress to become a fan of Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin and, of course, Grogu. The actress says she appreciates that the Star Wars universe has the potential for individual adventure stories that don’t necessarily have to connect to everything else within the franchise.

"Also, I love how the Star Wars universe has — it's not trying to pay off each movie with the whole backlog of movies. It's now individual stories set in the same universe”, Weaver explains. While on set for the film, she confirms that she shot with Pedro Pascal and Grogu, and “was surrounded by all kinds of different creatures," and "I got a drink from someone with a very different kind of head." In the movie, Weaver will play Colonel Ward of the Adelphi Rangers. Fans should be familiar with Adelphi, as it last appeared in The Mandalorian Season 3. That’s where Din Djarin met up with Carson Teva and made a deal to work as a contractor on a case-by-case basis to catch Imperial Remnants. That might be why Weaver’s character and Djarin meet one another, as Colonel Ward was once a pilot for the Rebel Alliance during the Rebellion. As a former Rebel, Ward has every reason to suspect any potential Imperial activity, which should be one of the major plot points in the movie.

It is not clear how Jeremy Allen White’s character, Rotta the Hutt, will play a role within this scenario. When White’s role was confirmed during Star Wars Celebration in April, most fans assumed that Rotta would be an antagonist in the movie, especially given his family’s history. However, going by what the actor revealed on the Graham Norton Show, Rotta may actually end up working with Din Djarin. White was asked about playing a Hutt in the movie and said, “It’s interesting, I can’t say too much about it. But I look very much like that in the film. I just do voice work in the film. I’m not, you know, putting on any costume. No funnel necessary. He’s just a bit broader, but still like a Hutt. It’s kinda like him and the Mandalorian running around for a lot of the movie together.” Graham Norton sounded surprised to hear that Rotta can run, and White clarified that Rotta can, indeed, move quite quickly. Good for Rotta, because he’ll need to be quick-paced to keep up with Mando and his Force-sensitive child. This also confirms that Rotta and Din aren’t enemies, at least not yet. Perhaps Djarin will help take Rotta somewhere, or maybe Rotta and Djarin are both working for the New Republic in some capacity.

With the Hutts being involved, fans are curious to know whether Boba Fett could make an appearance. The Hutt twins are included in The Mandalorian and Grogu’s first official poster, and fans last saw them in The Book of Boba Fett, which is the last time Boba and Fennec Shand made an appearance. Regardless of how people felt about that series, Boba Fett is still a legendary character, and any appearance by him in a Star Wars movie, working alongside Din Djarin, would surely be met with an enthusiastic response. Even though Temuera Morrison and Ming-Na Wen both denied being approached for the movie, it would make the most sense for Boba and Fennec to appear in the movie. The Mandalorian and Grogu hits theaters on May 22, 2026.
