Andor season 2 is completed, and the final critiques, reviews and viewing figures are in.  After the controversial The Acolyte, and under performing Skeleton Crew, Star Wars has needed a hit, badly.  Tony Gilroy was given a massive budget of 290.9 million, but it seems as if the risk has paid off. It’s estimated that Andor season one and two pulled in over 300 million dollars in subscriber revenue for Disney. And Disney will also no doubt make plenty from the Lego sets, and various other merch now on sale.

Andor is currently the highest rated Star Wars show with a 97% Rotten Tomatoes rating. The last three episodes topped the Nielsen rankings during the week of May 12th to 18th with over 931 million minutes of viewing time. It beat Bluey and Netflix’s Nonnas for the top spot. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which immediately follows on from the Andor finale, was also the ninth most streamed movie in that time period. Although this is impressive, Andor’s strategy of releasing its episodes in three blocks no doubt helped the series climb the Nielsen charts as it measures minutes viewed per week.

On the back of Tony Gilroy’s success, Disney are reportedly gunning for a Primetime Emmy for the series. They’ve submitted Andor for twenty awards in total, across writing, directing, and acting categories.
