During New York Comic Con this year, I attended the Rooster Fighter panel. Fans were treated to a screening of the English dub of the anime, and it was definitely an experience. If you don’t know, the show is about a chicken named Keiji who fights demons. He is on the hunt for the demon that killed his family. He also uses a special finishing move called kokekokko. The premise is ridiculous, but the first episode left me wanting more. Robbie Daymond, the voice of Keiji’s half-brother, Keisuke, even attended the panel.

Robbie Daymond shared some insight into his character and how he secured the opportunity to be on the show. He actually asked the studio who made it if he could be a part of it. He told us a story about how one of his roles involved making chicken sounds for a Red Bull commercial, so he jokes that 15 years later, he has come full circle. He said the part that was most fun was doing the chicken noises, and that even though the chickens don't talk, they will occasionally interject chicken noises into the dialogue, which he said was one of his favorite parts. When asked what his favorite scene was, he joked that he doesn't want to spoil the “chicken show”, but it does deal with some adult themes. Keiji and Keisuke are half-brothers, and when they find out, it’s a very grown-up scenario with a realistic family dynamic. Keiji is also pretty upset about his father's infidelity. He says doing the chicken noises and the special attacks were pretty fun. He even blew out his voice doing the special attack noise.

Although the show has a wild concept, it remains very entertaining. The English dub was also very good, and features Patrick Seitz as Keiji,  Luci Christian as Elizabeth, and Kimoy Lee as Piyoko, Roger Rose as Morio, and of course, Robbie Daymond as Keisuke.

Rooster Fighter will premiere sometime in 2026.
