DC has released a trailer for their latest project Clayface. Although Clayface has been in a variety of live-action and animated shows, this will be his big-screen debut. The trailer opens with a shot of Clayface on a hospital bed with a bloodied and bandaged face. The trailer then intersperses that scene with shots of Clayface enjoying fame as an up-and-coming actor, receiving surgery and injections, and his face morphing. This is accompanied by the tagline, “Look fear in the eye.” The final shot shows Clayface posing in a tub before completely wiping away his face.
Clayface is a body horror film set in the DCU and will be directed by James Watkins. Tom Rhys Harries plays the title character joined by Naomi Ackie as the scientist who transforms his body. The movie almost didn’t happen as DC Studios co-chief James Gunn previously confirmed he had no plans to make a Clayface movie until Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini brought him a great script. The other DC Studios co-chief, Peter Safran, explained their reasoning for making the film. He said, “Clayface might not be as widely known as The Penguin or The Joker, but we really feel that his story is equally resonant, compelling, and in many ways, more terrifying than one of those.” Clayface lands in theaters on October 23, 2026.
