Kingdom Hearts Missing Link has officially been cancelled. Announced in April 2022 by Square Enix, Missing Link was to be a GPS-based action RPG for iOS and Android. Closed beta tests were held throughout 2024 and early 2025, before radio silence ultimately befell the project. Square Enix explained their decision by stating, “Although we worked hard on developing and adjusting the game in the hope that it would be enjoyed by lots of players, we determined that it would be difficult for us to offer a service that players would find satisfactory over a long period, leading us to the decision to cancel development.”

Kingdom Hearts IV is still undergoing development. Matter of fact, Square Enix has recently shared new screenshots of the game. These appear to show off the new “Quadratum” realm that’s been teased throughout later releases in the series, alongside a playable appearance of King Mickey Mouse. The team gave fans this message: “To our Kingdom Hearts community, We’re currently working hard on Kingdom Hearts IV and will continue pouring ourselves into the game’s development. We’re dedicated to making this an experience that lives up to your expectations!” We’ll be seeing what comes next, but fans are sure to be enthused.
