An Oscar-winning film composer is making his way to the DCU! It’s officially been confirmed that Volker Bertelmann will provide the score for the upcoming DCU film Clayface.

With this confirmation, this means every DCU project with a release date has a confirmed composer, following announcements of Stephanie Economou working on Lanterns, David Fleming returning for Man of Tomorrow, and Claudia Sarne scoring Supergirl (replacing Ramin Djawadi and Tom Holkenborg). Starting as a prolific musician, Volker Bertelmann (also known as Haushka) hit his film scoring stride in 2016 with the Garth Davis film Lion, which he scored alongside Dustin O'Halloran. Together, the duo will later provide the scores for The Current War, The Art of Racing in the Rain, The Old Guard, and Ammonite.

Bertelmann’s work in the 2020’s is primarily defined by his frequent collaborations with director Edward Berger, providing the scores for All Quiet on the Western Front, Conclave, and Ballad of a Small Player. Other prominent credits include James Hawes’ The Amateur and Kathryn Bigelow’s A House of Dynamite. Since 2017, Bertelmann has received 3 Oscar nominations for Lion (losing to Justin Hurwitz for La La Land), All Quiet on the Western Front (which he won), and Conclave (losing to Daniel Blumberg for The Brutalist). In addition to Clayface, he’s also set to provide the scores for Sam Esmail’s Panic Carefully and Kenneth Branagh’s The Last Disturbance of Madeline Hynde.
