The first official trailer for Wicked: For Good, the sequel to Hollywood’s adaptation of the popular Broadway musical Wicked, has been released. It is filled with all the magic and wickedness of Wicked, Part One, which was released last November. The second part of the story picks up where the first part left off, with Cynthia Erivo’s Elphaba deciding to break with the Wizard of Oz, played by Jeff Goldblum, and her best friend, Ariana Grande’s Glinda, after discovering the Wizard’s dark plans for all the the animals in Oz and leaving the Emerald City to fight against the Wizard on her own.

The second film will “cover the events of the musical’s second act, following Elphaba and Glinda’s friendship being put to the test as they embrace their new respective identities as the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch of the North, and how the consequences of their actions will change all of Oz forever.” The film, like the Broadway musical, will also intersect with the events of The Wizard of Oz, albeit from a vastly different perspective than the classic Frank L. Baum story and the subsequent classic 1939 film adaptation starring Judy Garland.

Wicked: Part One was a massive hit, grossing 756 million dollars worldwide and garnering 10 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Lead Actress for Cynthia Erivo, Supporting Actress for Ariana Grande, Costume Design, Editing, Makeup, Hairstyling, Production Design, Best Original Score by prolific film composer John Powell, Sound and Visual Effects. It won for Costume Design, making Paul Tazewell the first Black man to win the category, as well as Production Design. Given the success of the first film, along with the same cast, crew, and production values, it seems quite likely that Wicked: For Good will enjoy similar success.

The film is currently set for worldwide theatrical release on November 21, 2025.  The trailer can be viewed below:
