The Mighty Nein animated series is in full swing. The show releases a new episode each week for a total of 8 episodes, unlike The Legend of Vox Machina, which releases 3 at a time, but has twelve episodes. This week's episode, we finally got to see the group in action together for the first time, and their journey is only just beginning.
The group was truly the definition of “wrong place, wrong time”, because they were all arrested, interrogated, and eventually jailed for something they didn’t do. Well, they did have a part in the eventual destruction of the carnival, but they were not the original cause of what happened. To prove their innocence and find Toya, the little girl who was taken by the creature at the carnival, they work together to escape their cell. They make their way back to the carnival, where they look for clues to where the creature and the girl escaped. Eventually, they find the location, and we get to see them fight as a team for the first time. If we skip ahead to the end, the group returns to the town to try and prove their innocence, but are met with a familiar face that Caleb and Beau have both been running from.

Not only did we see our group of heroes, but we also saw our villain, Trent Ikathon. With the help of Essek and Dunamancy, he was trying to understand the beacon. Unfortunately, when it became too much for Essek, Trent took over and now sees it as a weapon. This does not bode well for our heroes, or the rest of Exandria.
This episode was great because we finally got to see the group together, and each of them showed the skills they have. While Caleb doesn’t have his full Wizard potential yet, it’s still exciting anytime he is able to conjure up a spell and use magic. We also got to see Jester channel the Traveler and use her healing ability, even if it didn’t fully work. Fjord got to show off his Paladin power, both in the cell and during the fight.
Not only did it show off their skills, but it also showed us the group dynamic. We got to see Nott poking fun at Fjord, just like Sam did in the campaign to Travis. Jester is a sweetheart who wants to be friends with everyone, yet is also super tough. This was on full display when she was complimenting Nott and was able to break the wall that Fjord couldn’t. Beau is a jerk who eventually warms up to the group, and especially the Fjord. The two of them became the leaders and good friends. Nott is struggling with her past, and while she may be a bit crazy at times, she has a great heart. Molly is the true wildcard of the group. It’s great getting to see more of him, and seeing him use his blood hunter powers is always cool, too. I can’t wait to see more of how the group grows as the show goes on.

Campaign 2 holds a very special place in my heart, and I love getting to see it come to life in animation every week. The music and the animation are gorgeous. I can’t wait to see what comes next for our group of adventurers.
