Obi-Wan Kenobi may not be the most beloved show on Disney+, but it visited a range of worlds both familiar, and new to Star Wars, sometimes creating or expanding locations which have since appeared in other media following the show’s debut.
Join CultureSlate today, as we look over each of these worlds, note some of the more interesting details, and discuss how they play a role in the plot of the 2022 series.

Tatooine is one of the most notable worlds in the galaxy, despite its fairly rural population. Found in the Arkanis sector, we’ve spoken about the world plenty of times on CultureSlate, especially since it has appeared in several other Disney+ shows. Its presentation in Obi-Wan Kenobi was brief, though intriguing for what it added to the Star Wars universe.
We learn of Obi-Wan’s desert ascetic lifestyle, living in a cave while taking odd jobs, and wracked at the guilt of Anakin’s fall. He keeps an eye on Luke from a distance, so fans get a brief pre-A New Hope look at the Lars homestead, and we also visit different areas of Mos Eisley than we have in the past.

Important enough to lend its name to the sector it is located in, the Alderaan sector, Alderaan is an immensely important Core World with deep ties to the history of the Republic. A founding world of that pangalactic government, Alderaan’s leadership in the Republic meant that with the declaration of the Galactic Empire, it became a world that granted its leadership some protection in their critiques of the new order. But those protections did not extend to the extralegal arms of the Empire, such as the Inquisitorius, nor the personal vendetta of the Third Sister.
We see Leia’s home in Obi-Wan Kenobi, the beautiful Royal Palace in the world’s capital city of Aldera, and the natural environment kept intact by the world’s environmentally-conscious population which surrounds the city. However, those woods become the perfect place for hired goons to lie in wait, and capture the young heir, though not for any true ransom.
Daiyu

Found in the Hocatar sector of the Expansion Region, Daiyu is a dark and grimy ecumenopolis lacking the surface polish of worlds like Coruscant or Hosnian Prime. It is drenched in neon, and holds all sorts of illegal activity, but it is still a point of transit from one world to the next, and is where Leia is being held by her captors when Obi-Wan arrives to save her.
The planet also hides a node in the Hidden Path’s network of safehouses for refugees fleeing the Empire’s pursuit of all Force users and their allies. Despite the suspect nature of the node’s caretaker, the pair of runaways flee in an automated droid ship with his help, eventually arriving at the next world on our list.
Mapuzo

Mapuzo is a quiet, arid world found in the Hollan sector of the Mid Rim. Home to mining operations meeting quotas set by the Empire, the Hidden Path operates a safehouse on this world too, though not all of the civilians are unhappy or dissenters against the Empire’s rule. With the Empire having established checkpoints and control over the locals, Obi-Wan and Leia are forced to push through their light but persistent presence, and make for the safety of shelter offered by the Path, only to put the world in danger as Darth Vader arrives on the trail of the fleeing Jedi Master.
Scorched and made to suffer in an industrial area of Mapuzo, Obi-Wan is separated from Leia when he is rescued while she is captured by the Third Sister, still intent on luring the Master she blames for the Jedi Order’s fall to her for punishment.
Nur

Located in the Atravis sector in an unsteady alignment with the nearby lava-stricken world of Mustafar, Nur is intriguing as we’ve since seen what appears to be Dark Side, perhaps even ancient Sith, ruins on an island which served as the hidden core for what would become Fortress Inquisitorius.
An immense mirror to Vader’s castle later built nearby on Musatfar, the Fortress became the primary training facility for both the Purge Troopers and the Inquisitorius. Infiltrated and significantly damaged by Cal Kestis five years earlier, the Fortress at the time of Obi-Wan Kenobi has a significant administrative edge, plenty of normal Imperials mixed into the Purge Troopers and Inquisitors who make use of the facility. Holding cells, torture chambers and more exist deep within the base, while macabre trophies of many slain Jedi, and Force sensitive targets line the walls of an inner sanctuary steeped in the Dark Side. Obi-Wan Kenobi is able to rescue Leia with the help of the Hidden Path but the Third Sister is revealed to have allowed the escape to let the Empire track its prey back to the Hidden Path’s central base.
Jabiim (and its unnamed moon)

Jabiim and its unnamed moon are located in the Phelleem sector. Jabiim itself is a muddy Outer Rim world covered in rocky caverns and disused settlements which is largely forgotten by the wider galaxy. From this planet, the Hidden Path operates its most robust support efforts, with their ships capable of transporting dozens to safety across the galaxy. However, the Hidden Path doesn’t stay hidden when the Empire finally comes knocking, the Third Sister, Vader, and the Grand Inquisitor all leading the charge to locate Obi-Wan, while Leia was more of an afterthought by this point.
Successfully evading their pursuers, Obi-Wan and the Path part ways, the Jedi leading his deadly pursuer to Jabiim’s uninhabited moon where he and Vader can fight without anyone else being harmed. During the bruising contest, Obi-Wan again escapes, but Vader, chastised by Darth Sidious, is forced to stop his hunt, and allow the Jedi’s death to remain officially unconfirmed.
Coruscant

Seen across the series in brief flashbacks, Coruscant is located in the Corusca sector, and was the seat of the Republic for many thousands of years. The Coruscant Jedi Temple was an epicentre of the Jedi Order in the Galactic Republic formed after the fall of the Old Republic, but it eventually became a gilded cage that insulated the Jedi from the wider galaxy. Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker trained in its halls, while the young Third Sister, Reva Sevander was raised as a Youngling.
When Order 66 came, led by Anakin, Reva was one of many cut down in the great storming of the Temple but unlike the others, Reva survived. She played dead amidst the bodies of her friends and mentors, and later escaped whatever fate awaited the corpses. The Jedi Temple became the Imperial Palace, and the epicentre of Imperial political power, its halls haunted by the massacre that occurred there, and twisting one young woman into a hateful person.
Obi Wan Kenobi is streaming now on Disney plus.
