We’ve gone through bad guy after bad guy throughout the MCU. They all have a degree of power, some stronger than others, through a range of abilities. Raw power definitely isn’t the only factor when determining the threat level, but it certainly is impactful. How would these different titanic powers interact when they collide? Let’s explore!

Your opinion on the pairing may be split-second without further context; not much is known about Kang in the MCU, and Thanos has resources and strategic planning capabilities we’ve seen in detail. To determine who is stronger, comic context as well as MCU canon need to be considered. By our analysis of comic context and MCU potential, Kang comes out on top.

Thanos, according to comic lore, has an extreme physical advantage. His strength alone makes most foes seem like flies on the wall, merely bugging the titan. This capability is mirrored in the movies, though not quite as intense, since one punch doesn’t utterly waste his opponents into the ground. He has elements of a healing factor and invulnerability as well, which make him harder to hit and damage. Those enhanced abilities increase his power against almost any opponent, even without the infinity gauntlet.

Kang doesn’t have much in terms of natural power like Thanos. He does, however, possess a level of intellect that takes him beyond most others.  Considering the contact he has across the multiverse, he also has strategic insights few others can grasp. Kang is also a master at hand-to-hand combat, able to go to bat with Captain America. We have seen Cap fight Thanos in the movies, so we know the two villains are ever closer in power level. Kang gets an edge thanks to his appearances in the MCU thus far; he has a degree of omniscience.

Pitting them against each other makes it easier to visualize who is more powerful. Even with the infinity gauntlet on Thanos’ wrist, Kang would be able to see the titan’s next move. Thanos may have a physical edge, but Kang has an intellectual and informational advantage that pushes him over the top. The titan is a fantastic battle strategist, but it’s hard to strategize against someone omniscient. Given that the infinity gauntlet his strongest weapon against most enemies, Thanos is a degree less powerful than Kang the Conqueror.

We’ve determined Kang to be the more powerful one of the two today. Since Kang hasn’t been seen in much of the MCU, the comics were also taken into consideration. Do you agree with this conclusion? Let us know!
