We have already taken a look at some of the movies that are turning 20 in 2023, but now it’s time to take a look at 10 movies that are turning 30! It is crazy to think how different movies are now, for better or worse, and how many classics were released in the early 90s. So, if you want to have your mind blown and feel a little older, let’s take a walk down memory lane.

10. Dazed And Confused

This movie is one of the few cult classics that I included on this list. Not only did this movie provide us with one of the most quoted lines in film history, but it also put Matthew McConaughey on the map! The film is a great time at the movies and one that everyone should watch at least once in their lifetime.

Is this movie one of the best to come out of the 90s? No, but it is a good time especially since it stars Bill Murray. The reason this film made the list is because of the impact that it has had on the film industry since its release. The idea of having to live the same day over and over again until a certain objective is achieved is one of the most recognizable tropes in Hollywood today. We have this film to thank for that!

8. What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?

This film is based on the 1991 novel of the same name and features some of Leonardo DiCaprio and Johnny Depp’s finest acting to date. The film acted as a massive starting point for the young DiCaprio and would also lead to his first Oscar nomination for Best Actor.

7. The Fugitive

If you don’t count Star Wars and Indiana Jones, this is one of Harrison Ford’s best films! He was in his prime in the 90s, and it shows in this action-packed thriller. Tommy Lee Jones also plays the perfect co-star to Ford and creates a dynamic duo that I really wish we would see more of. The film went on to be the highest-grossing film of 1993 and secured Jones an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor Oscar.

6. The Nightmare Before Christmas

This film terrified me as a kid, but as an adult, it is a must-watch every holiday season! I’ll be the first to admit that the film hasn’t aged the best, but the music will always be amazing and the casting choices iconic! There is nothing better than watching a holiday movie that still keeps you in the spooky spirit.

5. Robin Hood: Men In Tights

If you’ve seen this movie then you know why it is on this list. This is the best Robin Hood film in my opinion simply for how incredibly hysterical and far from the source material it is. What do you get when you combine Mel Brooks, the 90s, Cary Elwes, and Dave Chappelle? A truly hilarious film that will never get old!

4. Mrs. Doubtfire

This is arguably one of the late Robin Williams’ best films. He was truly in his prime during the 90s, and it shows in all of the incredible films that he gave us. The film has been a comfort film for many fans since its release and it remains one of the only films that feels like a hug while you’re watching it.

3. Hocus Pocus

This is one of the most well-known and beloved Halloween movies ever. Although the 2022 sequel did not live up to first, this film remains a must-watch for many fans every spooky season. It is also one of the most quoted and meme-able movies to come out of the 90s!

2. The Sandlot

While coming-of-age movies were all the rage in the early 90s, The Sandlot stands out as the most memorable of the decade. The film was relatable for every 90s kid because we knew the struggles of playing outside especially if you had a cranky neighbor whose yard was always off-limits. This film holds a special place in the hearts of most millennials!

Do we need to explain why this movie took the number 1 spot? This is easily the most recognizable film to come out of the 90s. While the rest of the franchise doesn’t hold a candle to the original we do have to admit that they are a great time at the movies, and we wouldn’t have them or Dr. Ian Malcolm if it wasn’t for the original!
