DreamWorks has just dropped a trailer for The Forgotten Island, and original animation due in theatres on 25th September 2026, and it looks incredible. The film is centred around two best friends who are trying to hold onto their friendship despite the pressures of growing up…..a mystical island trying to take their memories. The vibe looks to be Filipino mystic vs 90s cool, which should grab Gen Z and Millennials alike.
The winning team of Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado are at the helm of The Forgotten Island. (Puss in Boots: The Last Wish). DreamWorks has hired an all-star cast of voice actors, including Manny Jacinto, Lea Salonga, Dave Franco and H.E.R. Staples of Filipino cinema, Liza Soberano and Dolly de Leon are the cherry on the top of the stellar line-up.
Emerging talent, Nathan Matthew David has signed on to score the movie, the Filipino American has worked on The Mandalorian, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts as well as scoring Joy Ride and the Dwayne Johnson docuseries Young Rock. So, coupled with the 90s theme expect this movie to sound on trend.
The Forgotten Island could be an autumn sleeper hit, as it doesn’t have a lot of competition in the calendar. Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom and an Avengers: End Game re-release are the only movies that might draw a younger audience close to its release. We’ll have to see what the box office says.
