Star Wars had a fruitful presence at New York Comic Con 2026.
For starters, the annual Lucasfilm Publishing Panel explored a range of upcoming novel and comic releases. CultureSlate previously broke down these announcements, but the other print media panel, focused on the upcoming releases and unrevealed projects of Mad Cave Comics in conjunction with Lucasfilm, had its own exciting news. Two new comics were announced, the first being a Valentine’s Day-themed collection of short stories by various writers, while the other is the second volume in the as-yet-unreleased Star Wars: Smugglers & Scoundrels series from Papercutz and Mad Cave. This second volume sounds intriguing, being set a few years after the film Solo, seeing a new team-up between Lando and Han, and will be written by Adam Garcia.
Further announcements from the convention were mainly focused on the toy space as Hasbro revealed a range of new action figures covering various parts of the Skywalker Saga. The Vintage Collection has The Mandalorian-related figures coming, with a three-pack of Carson Teva, Frog Lady, and Trapper Wolf shown off. Elsewhere, the Black Series line is getting multiple releases, from a different Frog Lady to a different multipack containing the likes of Anakin as a Jedi Padawan and IG-88. Lastly, the 6-inch scale line is seeing various additions, from Zam Wesell to a special dewback and sandtrooper two-pack.
All of this rounds out a generally positive convention for franchise fans. There was a healthy amount of news, covering a range of eras, and there is likely more to come next year as the franchise’s big anniversary.
