If you missed Nacho Vigalondo’s 2017 monster movie, Colossal, Anne Hathaway wants you to know two things: she stars in it and recommends that fans watch it! In fact, The Princess Diaries star took to her Instagram to share that she had a great time on set while filming with Jason Sudeikis and Dan Stevens. She also mentions that it is one of her favorite movies she has ever been in.

The Devil Wears Prada actress posted, “When [Colossal] arrived in theatres in 2017, it shattered box office records and became the shining hope of all low-budget indies that if you stick to your guns, you can make it big and transcend it all. Jk, no one saw it.” She continued by saying that the kaiju flick is “funny and strange and silly/smart and great.”

Notably, Colossal was the first film released by the distribution company NEON. As such, when it first came out, it didn’t benefit from the strong name recognition NEON has since earned. Despite starring an A-lister like Hathaway, the movie tanked at the box office. In fact, with a $15 million budget, the film only recouped $4.5 million of its investment.

You may be wondering what the film is about. In short, Hathway’s character faces numerous internal and external struggles, yet after seeing news reports of a monster causing chaos in Seoul, South Korea, she realizes she is somehow connected to it. The film is considered a dark comedy sci-fi with an 82% positive critic review score on Rotten Tomatoes. What’s not to love about that?
