Assassin’s Creed fans are all well aware at this point that Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is getting a full-on remake, despite the lack of an official reveal. The only question until now has been when the game is coming out. That answer has now been provided. Ubisoft held a presser today for media and content creators, demonstrating the game for 30-minutes. According to Insider Gaming, the game was supposed to finally, officially be revealed today, but Ubisoft wanted to wait until next week so writers and influencers could get a look at the game first. It is now known that the game will release on July 9.
The game has been completely remade, so this is not a simple remaster. There will be new content, so likely new missions and weaponry and the like, and updates to the game as well. It will not, however, follow the trajectory of the most recent games in the franchise that have heaped on the RPG elements. This will be a single-player story-led game, much like its original. That story revolves around Edward Kenway, a Welsh pirate, who is the grandfather of the third game’s main character, Connor. Kenway becomes involved in the search for a mythical Observatory, and his involvement in the attempt to create a Libertalia-esque republic for pirates in the Caribbean.
