A new trailer has been officially released online for the upcoming film Avengers: Doomsday (2026). This teaser doubles as a casting announcement, confirming that Steve Rogers will appear in the film. Evans’ name was not included in the cast announcement made earlier this year, so his involvement comes as a pleasant surprise. This trailer was first shown in theaters during the previews for Avatar: Fire and Ash (2025). A fan-made, AI-generated version was also posted online, featuring a very similar plot and visuals; this refers to the Marvel Entertainment official post only.

The trailer opens with a shot of Steve riding a motorcycle towards a house that appears to be the same from Avengers: Endgame (2019). As he dismounts, the camera focuses on his left hand, prominently featuring his wedding ring. Steve is shown holding his old super suit and then holding a baby. Underscoring the trailer is the Avengers motif in a pitched-down, slightly somber tone.  This teaser opens up numerous possibilities. It is unknown whether or not this is the main universe’s Steve Rogers. This could also be setting up the backstory for Steve's children and grandchildren.

Marvel has dodged specifics regarding Steve’s whereabouts after Endgame (2019). He went back in time to stay and grow old with Peggy Carter, and was shown as an old man at the end of the film.  This will be the second time Evans has returned to the MCU, the first being his reprisal of the Human Torch in Deadpool & Wolverine (2024). Robert Downey Jr. will also be returning to the MCU, this time as an iteration of Doctor Doom.  Other members of the cast include Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Pedro Pascal, Florence Pugh, Sir Patrick Stewart, Simu Liu, and Rebecca Romijn. Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to hit theaters on December 18, 2026.
