Inarguably, one of the most popular characters in the MCU is Ryan Reynolds’s take on the Merc with a Mouth, Deadpool. Among three commercially and critically successful films, Deadpool has certainly left his mark on the wider universe. With the upcoming release of the next Avengers film, Doomsday, talks abound about whether we’re going to get an appearance from Deadpool. The answer is still up in the air. The main project he’s working on at the moment is producing John Candy: I Like Me, a biography about the legendary comedian.
As a brief aside, Trains, Planes and Automobiles should be required Thanksgiving viewing on the same level as movies like It’s a Wonderful Life and A Christmas Story are for Christmas.
Some reports are saying that Reynolds will be in Doomsday, but Reynolds himself, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, where he talked about John Candy easter eggs in the film, said,
"There's four that I've got in there. Of course, I've written them all at home in my PJs, and nobody's seen 'em nor have I stepped foot on set. But, yeah, that's about as far as I'll go on that one."

It’s interesting to hear that he hasn’t set foot on the Doomsday set. Whether that means that he’s not in the film at all or that Deadpool will make a brief cameo or have such a small role that it will only necessitate a day or two on set remains to be seen, but Reynolds isn’t the type to let that slip. Audiences probably won’t truly know until the film comes out on December 18th, 2026.
Or it’ll be on some updated version of the film’s IMDb page.
John Candy: I Like Me will premiere Oct. 10 on Prime Video.
