A considerable amount of new information has recently been released regarding Destiny 2’s next big DLC. Teased to be connected to Star Wars a few months ago, this past Tuesday brought a heap of new knowledge to the table with a video where various Bungie developers broke down the core elements of the expansion, and teased us with hints at the future, alongside some reveals on the game’s official website.
Destiny 2: Renegades takes a strong influence from Star Wars, with the reveal of a new enemy faction of white-armored Cabal rapidly militarizing and gaining strength at the edges of the Tower Vanguard’s awareness. They have also been engaged in constructing a terrible weapon, and must be stopped before it can be turned against Humanity or its allies. Helping players in this quest is a new, thriving criminal underworld on the planet Mars, operating out of a location called Tharsis Outpost. Three crime syndicates are the dominant powers in the region: the Fallen-led Pikers, the Psion-led Totality Division, named as a “subset” of the expansion’s big bad, and lastly, Tharsis Reformation. Vex, who have broken away from the control of a hostile force trying to command all of the Vex, these time-traveling machine entities wear clothes, play cards, and do crime.

Players will have access to a trio of new operation types, playable across three new arenas on different worlds of the solar system, with upgrades to earn to help them complete objectives in hectic matches against the foes of Humanity.
There are also strong teases of a “Jedi vs Sith” element to the storyline through the presence of the Guardian organization called the Praxic Order, and the shadowy, villainous Dredgens, who have connections to terrible weapons of suffering and pain called the Weapons of Sorrow. The Bungie webpage for Renegades mentions hunting down the acolytes of “Dredgen Bael” for instance, and it is through these groups that players will get access to their own lightsaber.
Called the Praxic Blade in the universe of Destiny 2, the weapon will apparently feature heavy customizability, and is being joined by a new weapon type for the expansion, the Blaster, taking obvious functionality, visual, and sound queues from the blasters of a galaxy far, far away.
There are a lot of interesting things to look forward to regarding the lore, story, and gameplay of Renegades with this dose of Star Wars-inspired adventuring, and it all kicks off on December 2nd, 2025.
