While recently serving as a guest on Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live, Bette Midler gave fans of the spooky franchise a hopeful update.

Midler stated that she had seen a script for the franchise’s third film, and that she thought much of it was good, resulting in her excitement. She ended her reveal by noting she is a part of ongoing logistics discussions for the whens, wheres, and more for the third installment.

Hocus Pocus debuted in 1993, with its sequel hitting Disney+ in 2022. This continuation, almost three decades later, proved a considerable success for Disney, setting a record on the company’s streamer for time watched of a film in the opening weekend (2.7 billion minutes) while also landing in the sixth most-streamed movie of 2022, with 5.7 billion minutes. The franchise’s third film was confirmed to be in the cards by Sean Bailey, president of Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production, but that was back in June 2023. Anne Fletcher, who directed Hocus Pocus 2, is apparently set to return for the new film, alongside the sequel’s writer, Jen D’Angelo.

It is good to hear that the project is not dead and gone, though hopefully, fans are not left waiting years for more Sanderson Sisters witchy goodness.
