Dave Filoni Sits Down With Collider To Discuss 'Star Wars', 'Ahsoka', And The Past And Future Of The Franchise

Dave Filoni maintained a professional level of ambiguity when Collider.com recently interviewed him regarding new, unannounced projects which may or may not be in the works. Topics ranged from how many episodes are anticipated to release each season and episode run times for Ashoka. The interviewer started by questioning Filoni on whether or not he was able to disclose any particular projects which have yet to be announced to the public at large. Filoni responded by cracking a joke and said, “It is something new for Star Wars. That we do have a development system. And there are lots of things we are discussing; reading all the time. I can’t say how many, but, you know, we are always looking for new creatives and new stories.”

When asked about how many episodes to expect, Filoni was coy and retorted on how he revealed the number of directors who would be working on the series, Filoni being one of them. The interviewer interjected about how directors could often work on multiple episodes. The two concluded Ashoka’s episode count would be between eight and ten.

The interviewer’s final question for Filoni was whether fans would need to watch Star Wars Rebels on Disney+ before watching Ahsoka. Filoni said, “You wouldn’t need to watch any. You really should. They are all available on Disney+;” however, he noted, “If you really were interested…if you just watch season four, you’d be set. You can start with that, and you get that these rebels are fighting this tyrannical empire. And that would get you everything and everybody you need. You don’t need to do the entire gambit of Rebels, but once you watch that, you’re gonna be like, I’m gonna watch it all.”

Exciting details, but fans will remain in the dark on how long they can expect Ahsoka to last, along with any new projects Filoni might be a part of in the future.
