Diego Luna thought he was done playing Cassian Andor after the filming of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story concluded, but years later, the actor received a call to reprise his role in two seasons of Andor. Now, 10 years since he was first seen as Cassian in Rogue One, it’s time for Luna to bid a farewell to him, and he’s been on an extended farewell tour since last year. Diego was nominated for Best Actor in a Drama Series at the Golden Globe Awards for Andor Season 2. This was his second Golden Globe nomination for the series, and even though he didn’t win, he says he was happy to be there representing the series. Luna sounded emotional on the red carpet as he revealed, “This is the end … I’m really happy to be representing the show tonight, all the actors that should’ve been nominated. It’s a wonderful cast, and I’m here to say goodbye. It’s been 10 years of my life.”
Many fans have been expressing their outrage at the lack of award nominations for Andor Season 2, especially the acting snubs, including Genevieve O’ Reilly, Elizabeth Dulau, and Stellan Skarsgård. Even though it’s highly unlikely that Diego will ever return as Cassian Andor, he will forever be a part of the Star Wars galaxy, and fans will surely expect to see him again at events like Star Wars Celebration. In December this year, Rogue One turns 10 years old, and perhaps this might be a good time for the cast to have a little reunion. It would be nice to see Felicity Jones at future Star Wars conventions, especially since many fans were surprised by the lack of a Jyn Erso cameo or mention in Andor Season 2. Andor is streaming on Disney+.
