Christopher Nolan, a celebrated director in the film industry, has just been elected President of the Directors Guild of America. He succeeds Lesli Linka in the role. During Linka’s term, the guild focused on lobbying for safety issues and expanding foreign streaming residuals. Nolan said, “To be elected President of the Directors Guild of America is one of the greatest honors of my career. Our industry is experiencing tremendous change, and I thank the Guild’s membership for entrusting me with this responsibility. I also want to thank President Glatter for her leadership over the past four years. I look forward to collaborating with her and the newly elected Board to achieve important creative and economic protections for our members.”

Nolan recently earned a pair of Oscars for 2023’s Oppenheimer. He also has the distinction of directing in multiple genres, from superhero films like Batman Begins and The Dark Knight to serious dramas like Inception, Memento, and Tenet to historical dramas like Dunkirk. His next project, based on the classic Homer tale, is The Odyssey, which releases in July. Laura Besley and Paris Barclay were re-elected as National Vice President and Secretary-Treasurer, respectively. Other changes to the board include Todd Holland as First Vice-President, Ron Howars as Second Vice-President, Gina Prince-Bythewood as Third Vice-President, Seith Mann as Fourth Vice-President, Millicent Shelton as Fifth Vice-President, Lily Olszewski as Sixth Vice-President, and Joyce Thomas as Assistant Secretary-Treasurer.
