UK viewers are going to be getting Disney+ content for free streaming platform ITVX. A new strategic partnership will see a selection of Disney’s most popular shows, including Star Wars: Andor and Only Murders in the Building, being made available on the British website and app. The programmes will appear under a new “Taste of Disney” section, and the offering will rotate, presumably to encourage new subscribers.
In return, ITV’s shows will be appearing on Disney+ on the same basis under the “Taste of ITVX” banner. ITV has been operating in the UK since 1955 and tends to produce its own content. The channel has produced a large number of high-quality shows, made for TV movies, and series, which potentially gives Disney access to a huge catalogue to rotate through, to keep current subscribers engaged.
Around 70-100 hours of content from each streamer’s library will be shared, and this will be launched on both platforms on July 16th, 2025.
This deal is a win-win for everyone involved. ITVX is funded by advertising, and the deal with Disney is bound to attract many new viewers to its platform, hoping to see the Disney shows for free, as well as boosting the amount of quality content on Disney Plus and encouraging new subscribers.
