The biggest filmmakers on television have found their next target; the silver screen! The release date for the Duffer Brothers’ newest film (their as part of their first-look deal with Paramount) has officially been announced!

Matt and Ross Duffer (known collectively as the Duffer Brothers) are best known for creating and showrunner the Netflix phenomenon Stranger Things, which concluded its legendary 9-year run back in December 2025. The show’s success spawned an animated series (which will air its second season in October), a Broadway stage show, and multiple books. The Duffers wrote 20 episodes and directed 24, and earned Primetime Emmy Award nominees for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series and Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series for the debut episode The Vanishing of Will Byers.

As part of their first-look deal with Netflix (which expired back in April) they executive-produced Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen and The Boroughs, which was sadly cancelled after one season this week. The currently untitled film the Duffers are making for Paramount is their first film since the underseen 2015 thriller Hidden. While nothing is known plot or casting wise, the film is original and not based on pre-existing IP.

The currently untitled Duffer Brothers Event Film will be released on November 3rd, 2028.
