‍The first trailer for Dune: Part Three has been released by Warner Bros.. Based on Frank Herbert’s Dune: Messiah, this will be the conclusion to Denis Villeneuve’s film trilogy that started with the first Dune in 2021. There’s plenty of war and political upheaval expected with this end of the trilogy, with a taste of that found within the trailer. And a potential child for Paul Atreides and Chani.

Timothée Chalamet portrays Atreides, while Zendaya portrays Chani. In the trailer, the two are together, discussing what they would name the baby. Other characters found within the trailer are Atreides’ mother, portrayed by Rebecca Ferguson, and new villain Scytale, portrayed by Robert Pattinson. Other characters appearing in the film are a reincarnated Duncan Idaho, portrayed by Jason Momoa, the Fremen leader Farok, portrayed by Isaach de Bankolé, Princess Irulan, portrayed by Florence Pugh, and Atreides’ now-adult sister Alia, portrayed by Anya Taylor-Joy.

Taking place 17 years after Dune: Part Two, there’s a power struggle taking place, as Atreides deals with the consequences of holding too much power. Dune: Part Three will see others trying to usurp him, all while continuing to develop the relationship between Atreides and Chani. Filmed last summer across Budapest, Hungary, and the Albanian desert, Dune: Part Three will release on December 18 in theatres and on IMAX screens.
