Classic Doctor Who fans are in for a treat when the franchise celebrates its 60th anniversary towards the end of the year. Every single episode, starting from “An Unearthly Child” with William Hartnell as the First Doctor, is coming to BBC iPlayer from November 1st.  Over 800 episodes have been dug out of the BBC archives. That should keep Whoovians busy for a while.

The episodes will come with more viewing options including subtitles, audio description, and sign language. It’s the first time that The Doctor’s back catalog has been made accessible to those with additional needs. The drop includes the spin-offs, including the much-loved Torchwood, Class, and The Sarah Jane Adventures.  All six seasons (Christopher Eccleston to Matt Smith) of the BBC Three series, Doctor Who Confidential are also coming to our screens. Big names such as Simon Pegg and Anthony Head hosted the behind-the-scenes documentary.

The history of Doctor Who is being collated further by a new online archive. The general public is being given access to over 25,000 photos, and 100,000 documents. The BBC says they have everything from sheet music to old radio broadcasts to release in November at bbc.co.uk/doctorwho.

Combined with the three special episodes starring David Tenant and Catherine Tate, the 60th anniversary of Doctor Who will be one to remember.
