Film fans, rejoice! Filming for Damien Chazelle’s currently untitled prison drama starring Daniel Craig and Cillian Murphy has begun in Greece!

The film is the first by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Damien Chazelle since 2022. Damien Chazelle is best known for directing Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench, Whiplash, La La Land, First Man, and Babylon. Whiplash and La La Land received universal critical acclaim and are considered among the greatest movies of the 2010s, the 21st Century, and of all time. Chazelle received his first Oscar nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay for Whiplash and would go on to win Best Director for La La Land, the youngest winner in the category’s history.

First Man received mostly positive reviews and won the Oscar for Best Visual Effects, but was a commercial disappointment when it landed in 2018. Babylon, Chazelle’s most ambitious film, received polarizing reviews and was a box office failure. However, Babylon earned 3 Oscar nominations and has become a cult classic amongst some film fans.

Damien Chazelle’s prison drama is set to star Daniel Craig, Cillian Murphy, Michelle Williams, and Mia Threapleton. Justin Hurwitz confirmed back in October 2025 that he’s read the script and will score the film. Due to a busy schedule, Damien Chazelle’s frequent DP Linus Sandgren (who recently worked on Dune: Part Three) will not work on this film, with the role of DP being filled by Lol Crawley (who won an Oscar last year for The Brutalist).

While Damien Chazelle’s currently untitled prison drama has no release date, it will be released by Paramount Pictures.
