Marvel’s Wonder Man was recently renewed for a second season. It was originally planned as a mini-series, but the strong audience reception convinced the studios to renew it. Wonder Man is one of the few Marvel shows to be granted a second season along with Loki and Daredevil: Born Again. WandaVision continued in a separate series Agatha All Along and the upcoming VisionQuest.
Wonder Man departed from the traditional Marvel formula of heroes and villains and, instead, focused on a Hollywood journey. The superpowers were still present but less emphasized. The show tells the story of Simon Williams (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) auditioning for the role of Wonder Man, having idolized the hero of the film in his youth. Along the way he forms a friendship with Trevor Slattery (Ben Kingsley), a former star whose career was over when he posed as the terrorist in Iron Man 3. While pursuing a Hollywood career, Simon is trying to hide his powers, and Trevor has hidden motives in their friendship.

Abdul-Mateen II and Kingsley will reprise their roles in the second season. They will be joined by series co-creators Destin Daniel Cretton, who previously worked on Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and is directing Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and Andrew Guest, who previously worked on Community and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Cretton will be the director and producer of this season, while Guest will be a showrunner and executive producer.
