Disney+’s 2024 documentary on John Williams has earned the maestro another Grammy Nomination for Best Music Film. Music By John Williams was joined by Star Wars Outlaws, which earned a nomination for Best Score Soundtrack for Video Games for its DLC album. It is a testament to Williams’ greatness that he has been nominated for best music for a documentary about his storied career as a composer. This is now the 77th Grammy nomination of John Williams’ career, and come February 1st, Williams could win his 27th Grammy award.
Williams created the soundtrack for every movie in the Skywalker Saga, beginning with ‘A New Hope’ and ending with ‘The Rise of Skywalker’. Additionally, the 93 year old legend has created music for Jaws, Jurassic Park, Harry Potter, Schindler’s List, Home Alone, Saving Private Ryan, and Indiana Jones, among others. Directed by Laurent Bouzereau, Music By John Williams contains interviews with George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard, Kathleen Kennedy, and several other collaborators who worked with him over his storied career. Williams had already established himself as a composer when George Lucas and Steven Spielberg were getting started in the industry. Williams was inspired by them, but admitted that they reminded him of his kids, who were teenagers at the time. Spielberg convinced Williams to work with George Lucas after his work on Jaws earned him his second Oscar for Best Soundtrack for a Motion Picture.
