'Grand Theft Auto VI' Has Dropped An Extended Look

After several release date delays, an ongoing leaking blackmail and leak saga, and a great deal of gamer trepidation, Rockstar Games has finally, at last, revealed a solid look at Grand Theft Auto VI.

This reveal was unique, exclusively premiering on Netflix of all places on August 27th, with a six hour delay before it was then available to the public via YouTube and the game’s official website. The small exclusivity window of just six hours is an oddity, but this arrangement almost certainly helped spike Netflix’s traffic given the significant interest GTA VI has been generating for years now.

The extended look, which was almost 27 minutes of footage, was recorded on a Playstation 5, and showed off slices of gameplay, missions, and cinematic moments from across the game. We see everything from an intense drug bust the two protagonists get caught in, to a high end patio meeting with a pair of friends, to a tense, Die Hard-adjacent situation that really puts said protagonists to the test.

Fan reactions have generally been positive to the footage, with praising comments reaching tens of thousands of likes on the YouTube video alone, though several jokes about the enormous gap between GTA 5 and 6 also received a lot of attention. It certainly has been an incredibly long wait for this game, and many are hoping that the hype pays off. Rockstar certainly is, as the game is still set to release November 2026, the latest and likely last release date announced for GTA VI. We’ll be sure to get more looks at this title in the coming weeks, as we’re a little under three months before the game hopefully launches!
